Across 5 sports, Every Kid Gets a Ball has given out an average of 2,300 sports balls each year to kids in Des Moines' Youth Recreational Scholarship Program.

Since 2007 the Friends have proudly provided swim lesson scholarships and a free towel to underserved families and English-Language Learners in the community. The program continues to grow and is experiencing greater participation and need every year.

Friends of Des Moines Parks is proud to support Wreaths Across America in Woodland Cemetery. Sponsor wreaths are placed at the cemetery each December. It’s a great way to honor veterans buried there, many who have not been remembered in over 100 years.​
