Chamberlain Park was established in 1904 when the Chamberlain family pioneers, behind Iowa’s Chamberlain Medicine Company, donated two acres at 19th Street and Ingersoll Avenue as a green space for local children.

The City of Des Moines officially took over the land in 1933, making it a municipal park featuring popular additions like a community wading pool.

In 1995, the original site was sold for commercial development, and funds were reallocated to build the current Chamberlain Park near Woodland Avenue.

In recent years, the park's aging play structures had to be removed after failing safety inspections. Contributions will go directly toward funding a brand-new playground for Chamberlain Park.
