EWING PARK REVITALIZATION

Ewing Park Lilac Arboretum

Revitalizing Historic Ewing Park Lilac Arboretum

The Friends spearheaded a drive to revitalize the historic Ewing Park Lilac Arboretum. There are now more than 1,000 fragrant plants in the collection. Peak viewing is generally around Mother's Day. The Friends sponsored two visits by Daniel Ryniak, the nation’s foremost expert on lilac care, who gave a free public lecture with advice on lilac restoration.

Ewing Park will be further showcased by Friends projects that include the construction of a new 5-mile walking/single-track trail. The Friends has contributed to funding for the family oriented Star Party in Ewing Park in each August that celebrates the perseid meteor shower.
