Friends of Des Moines Parks

Preserve, protect, improve, and promote the use of Des Moines parks, greenways and recreational programs for the benefit of all neighborhoods and citizens. That’s what some civic minded individuals aim to do, and they’d like you to be a part of it.

First established by a group of citizens as The Des Moines Park and Recreation Foundation in 1993, the “Friends of Des Moines Parks” has reactivated and recreated itself and is working to become a primary advocate and information resource for parks, greenways and recreational programming in the city of Des Moines. The stated goals include:

• Building a strong and unified coalition that will advocate on behalf of all citizens
• Endeavoring to create strategic alliances with government and with other organizations
• Broadly representing the demographics of our city
• Being a fiscally sound and responsible organization that fully funnels contributions back into the community

The Des Moines Park and Recreation Foundation, Inc., Friends of Des Moines Parks is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to the citizen stewardship of the parks.
